Turntable
This is my final project for the intermediate term at Think Tank Online. The original concept is by artist Aykut Aydoğdu. Unlike my previous Foundations' final project, where likeness was paramount, I decided to go a little rogue this time around — especially with her suit.
I wanted to test how shading in Maya could help me achieve the result I was looking for — something "out in space" but fashionable. I really enjoy sci-fi movies and the sleek wardrobes and wanted to push that on my end. The helmet played a big role in my decision to go with this concept — the old "granny" wallpaper with solid gold was just too good to pass.... her eyes... (in my view) meant to be struck by light while being the cause of it. Something peaceful yet terrifying at the same time.
Sculpting in Zbrush and learning the big and small details of anatomy this term were also a lot of fun and rewarding work. I want to thank my colleagues for their kind support and talented supervisor/artist, Vinicius Favero, Creature Modeler at ILM www.artstation.com/viniciusfavero, for the precious feedback in anatomy, Zbrush and Substance Painter.
