This is Emmerick, my latest 3D project. As I worked on Emmerick, I started wondering why? Why he came to be and what could be influencing me? Did I watch a movie recently or saw something that inspired this reptilian "guy" to show up? Then I remember a show from the 70's I used to watch reruns of when I was growing up that had a huge impact on "child" me. "Land of the Lost", by Canadian brothers Sid & Marty Krofft. Oh wow, those Sleestacks (reptilian humanoids) were sooooo scary to me as a child, and the show really took me to another world where dinosaurs and strange creatures seemed so real. Now, of course, watching any clip from this show is sure to make you laugh at the special (not so special) effects and very home made like costumes. But at the time, it was the coolest thing I had ever seen - and the Sleestacks....well, they scared me to death.
So yes, I think in a way my subconscious acted out in making Emmerick. I also like the look of a reptile and what they represent. They were seen as carriers of knowledge and cosmic secrets in ancient times. In the show they were the antagonists, but contained nuances of spirituality were entities can contain both light and dark aspects. In a way, a lot like us, humans.
In this project I worked with Zbrush, Maya, Arnold, Substance Painter, Nuke, Affinity Photo and Davinci Resolve.
